A food seasoning blend that pays homage to California.
From the beaches to the valleys and the desert to the mountains, California is a pretty special place. Many trends originate here as does a lot of really cool music, art and food. It’s not perfect and recently it’s taken its fair share of bumps and bruises. But she is still and will always be a magnificent and diverse state with fertile fields that grow much of the country’s fruits, herbs and vegetables.
Growing up in Ventura County as a kid meant I had easy access to ripe, organic, freshly picked avocados, strawberries, limes, olives, figs and just about anything that needs good soil and balmy weather to grow. I didn’t realize I was spoiled until I grew up and traveled quite a bit. What was (and still is) also omnipresent is real, authentic and fresh Mexican food. A variety of fresh chilies and specialty Latin fruits and veg like cactus fruit, jicama and nopales.
I hope you like this all-purpose “Golden State” seasoning as much as I do. Our chef added a bit of Chimayo chili to give a nod to the culture that gives California its soul.
Sprinkle on avocado toast, dips and sauces, rice, beans, salads and veggies.
